About This Blog

Welcome to Speaking of Wayland.

Communications have come a long way in the last 20 years. With the continued development of the internet and social media sites, gone are days of waiting on the news. Everything you want to know — and some things you don’t — is readily available with just a few clicks of a mouse.

With that in mind, Speaking of Wayland was designed to help keep you informed about things going on at Wayland. The Office of Communications is responsible for the content within this blog, and it is our desire to use this space to provide a more candid look at the events, accomplishments, successes and failures at Wayland.

We also hope to tackle issues within higher education as a whole and how those issues will affect Wayland and our students ‑‑ things such as the campus carry law that went into effect last August and how it may evolve, or the debate over liberal arts vs. technical education.

However, as any good counselor will tell you, communication is a two-way street. We hope that you will use this space to ask questions, respond to posts, and submit topics for future discussion.

Communication is a two-way street. We hope that you will use this space to ask questions, respond to posts, and submit topics for future discussion.

With that in mind, what do you say we get started? Check back soon; we’ll be Speaking of Wayland.
